A new era
This season Nike Sportswear launches the first of a new series of campaigns that are inspired by female athletes. Previously sneaker design and releases from Nike Sportswear has been based on male athletes and their performances. This ends with this Nike Beautiful x Powerful campaign.
A subtle tribute
This first release honors Joan Benoit, the female marathon runner who changed sports. In 1984, Joan Benoit Samuelson ran the marathon distance of 42.1 km on an impressive 2 hours 24 minutes and 52 seconds, and wrote her name into the sport's history of the world, as the first female gold medalist winner in the marathon distance. Joan Benoit became a symbol, and a continuing inspiration for women and athletes worldwide to reach their goals and dreams.
The Nike beautiful x powerful pack remixes of four iconic Nike Sportswear silhouettes. Nike's first running silhouette, the Cortez. The comfortable and t-shirt soft Air Presto. The streamlined and elegant Air Max Thea and the hyped Huarache in a narrow ultra version. All four icons are executed in triple-black stretch leather.
“There is no finish line…”
Nike Beautiful x Powerful is inspired by performance, passion and drive, which are found in amazing and impressive female athletes. Beautiful x Powerful salutes all women who set a goal and go for it. Whether it is to complete a marathon, an education or any other performance, it is about courage, willpower and drive, to achieve the goal and reach further. Go get it.
